Galveston Bay Foundation Conservation Project

Posted by hhuhn on Sep 19 2020 - 12:34pm

This is notice of a local service opportunity that satisfies Camping merit badge requirement 9c:  “Perform a conservation project approved by the landowner or land managing agency. This can be done alone or with others.”

Texas Parks & Wildlife has permitted the Galveston Bay Foundation to grow and plant marsh grass at restoration sites around Galveston Bay.  Volunteers (Scouts and others performing the work) will make 1600 pots of marshgrass at the EcoCenter in Baytown to be planted in the bay by local schools via a program called Get Hip to Habitat.

• This is an independent activity organized by a community organization – not a BSA-sponsored event.  Volunteers are responsible for managing their own health and safety.
• GBF’s covid protocols are attached.
